1 in 8 young people in the UK today are not earning or learning; a huge 957,000 of all 16 to 24 year olds.

And this affects us all. It affects families, our communities, our society and our economy.

Spear is one of the UK’s most effective youth employment charities. Using professional coaching, the Spear Programme equips young people with the skillset but also the mindset to enter and sustain work or further education. Over 70% of those who complete Spear get into work or education and are still there a year later.

Having already worked with more than 12,000 young people through our 18 Spear centres across the UK, we want to reach more young people in need by opening another 3 new centres in 2026.
